The Buddha of Long Life, Wisdom and Merit. By engaging in Amitayus practice we can develop these qualities, which are essential for our spiritual development, and eventually attain the deathless state of enlightenment. Amitayus has a red-coloured body and sits with his two hands in the gesture of meditative equipoise, holding a vase filled with nectar of immortality. He is shown here with a representation of our root Guru on his crown, flanked by Buddha Shakyamuni on his right and Je Tsongkhapa to his left.
